Yes, but with a catch. AutoZone lists MagnaFlow mufflers and exhaust systems on its website as of January 2025, and many stores can order them if they're not on the shelf. The catch is fitment. A MagnaFlow muffler can be a universal muffler, a direct-fit replacement, or part of a cat-back system. The universal one is cheaper, but you'll pay a muffler shop to weld and position it. A $110 universal muffler plus $200 in labor is not a deal if the $240 direct-fit bolts in.
At least, that's been my experience with our work vans. I've learned to search by part number rather than product name. Bring your VIN to the counter or check the fitment on AutoZone's app.
Will the MagnaFlow 99206HM catalytic converter fit my vehicle?
The MagnaFlow 99206HM is a universal catalytic converter, not a direct-fit factory replacement. That means 'fit' is the wrong question. The right questions are: what is the inlet and outlet diameter, what is the overall length, where do the O2 sensor bungs need to be, and does your state allow a universal converter on this vehicle?
According to MagnaFlow's product page (magnaflow.com, accessed January 2025), the 99206HM is a universal OBDII/EPA-compliant converter for specific applications. Verify it with a muffler shop before you order. Take this with a grain of salt: a universal converter plus welding labor often costs more than a direct-fit converter once everything is said and done.
Is the 496018T spark plug worth it?
The 496018T spark plug number isn't something I can decode from memory. What I do know is that spark plug part numbers contain information like thread size, reach, heat range, and gap. If you buy the wrong one, the engine will misfire, and a misfire will cost you far more than the plug.
Use an OEM application chart or a cross-reference tool. I use the vehicle-specific original equipment parts catalog and RockAuto's lookup. In my opinion, iridium or double-platinum plugs are worth the extra money for modern engines because they last longer and reduce labor frequency. For one of our vans, the labor is the same whether the plug costs $4 or $14.
What is normal brake pad thickness?
New brake pads typically have 10 to 12 millimeters of friction material. Replacement is usually recommended at 3 millimeters. At 2 millimeters, you're on borrowed time. In many states, the legal minimum is 1.6 millimeters, or 1/16 of an inch, but don't let the pad get anywhere close to that.
You can check by looking through the wheel spokes with a flashlight. If the pad looks thinner than the backing plate, replace it. We schedule brake inspections at every 10,000-mile oil change. A $30 pad and $100 labor is cheaper than rotors, calipers, or a crash. That said, I'm not a mechanic—when one of our pads is low, I listen to the person holding the wrench.
How much is it to replace a radiator?
For a typical sedan or light truck, radiator replacement runs about $400 to $900 in total parts and labor as of January 2025. For our Silverado, three local shop quotes ranged from $480 to $850. The radiator itself is often $80 to $300 for standard vehicles; imported or luxury models can be $400 to $800. Labor usually lands between $150 and $500, and that often includes coolant and a new thermostat—which you want included. Reusing old coolant to save $25 is a false economy.
Why is the cheapest option more expensive?
This is the question I wish more buyers asked. In 2021, I saved about $60 on a no-name exhaust part. It lasted two years, then cost $180 in labor to replace. Total: $240 for what a $190 branded part would have handled for five years. The cheaper part wasn't cheaper at all.
I now calculate total cost before comparing vendor quotes. Part price. Installation labor. Expected service life. Downtime. Risk of early failure. Warranty handling. That's the total cost. Put another way: a lower invoice price is not a lower cost.
